During Abraham Lincoln's presidency, America was focused on internal issues such as the Civil War and the abolition of slavery. The country was not heavily involved in international affairs, as Lincoln's primary concern was preserving the Union. However, the Civil War did have implications for America's international position, as European powers closely watched the conflict to see how it would impact the balance of power in the Western Hemisphere. Ultimately, Lincoln's leadership during this tumultuous time helped solidify America's position as a unified and powerful nation on the global stage. **

During Abraham Lincoln's presidency, America's international position was primarily focused on the Civil War and maintaining its unity. The Confederacy sought recognition from foreign powers, particularly Britain and France, but Lincoln's administration worked to prevent this by emphasizing the Union's commitment to ending slavery and promoting the idea of self-determination. The Emancipation Proclamation also shifted the international perception of the war, aligning it more with the fight against slavery. Overall, America's international position during Lincoln's presidency was one of seeking to maintain unity and prevent foreign intervention in the Civil War. **

During his presidency, Donald Trump faced criticism for his handling of the COVID-19 pandemic, with many arguing that his administration's response was inadequate and lacked a cohesive national strategy. Additionally, Trump's divisive rhetoric and controversial policies, such as the travel ban targeting predominantly Muslim countries and the separation of migrant families at the border, exacerbated social and political tensions. In contrast, both Obama and Biden have been praised for their efforts to promote unity and inclusivity, as well as their emphasis on science-based decision-making in addressing public health crises. **
